We had a very nice stay, hospitality from staff was excellent.

It was convenient staying overnight in Colesburg to travel from Jhb to the Western Cape.
The place is very neat and the service is friendly. Room a bit cramped. I would have appreciated a handle in the shower. We had a great stay and recommend it.
The guesthouse is conveniently situated and has ample off street parking. . Private rooms. . However the bed was phenomenally uncomfortable, so much so that we did not stay the second night, Also no one had been in to service the room while we were out. There is no sink to wash or rinse anything in the kitchen area, we assumed the dirty dishes would be cleared and cleaned but when we returned, the cups and plates we had used were still dirty and full of ants.
Andre went out of his way to accommodate us when we would check in late. Even made a video to explain nicely where we get in, where we park, where our room is. Everything was very nice, neat and clean and the fact that we had to travel with our dogs, and they are animal friendly, is really a big plus. Mattress in very good condition and delicious hot water, nice soap, and coffee facilities.

Easy to find, just off the main road. Arrival was unpleasant. It was loadshedding, in the evening, streets dark. Alerted somebody inside, we were at the wrong gate (would not have happened if lights were on). Sent to correct gate by somebody using a torch. Searched in our vehicle for our lights. Supper was a challenge. If the welcome during loadshedding can be improved, it will be a great place. We found candles on the cupboard after the lights came on. Maybe a few names and numbers of places that can deliver food. Apart from the arrival challenges, comfortable and clean - everything we needed for an overnight stay.

The condition of our room's toilit seat was in a discusting state! Damaged beyound repair, a potential place to hourber bacteria!! Could have been replaced for a few Rand. The air conditioner did not blow warm/hot air. Being mid winter with tempretures below zero, this made an early morning start very uncomfortable!

Herb Garden Guest house is perfectly located for overnight accommodation between Cape Town and Pretoria. We only checked in at 20h00 and checked out early, and it wasn't a problem at all, which we really appreciated. The room is very neat and well equipped with everything one could need. We can definitely recommend the place.
The accommodation offered only the necessary, basic facilities. The remote control of the TV and air conditioner did not work properly. The switches for the lights didn't all work either. I had to pull out one of the wall plugs to turn off the downlights!

Herb Garden was our stopover from Cape to Kruger, so we were only there for a short time. It was all we needed to rest and eat soon. Very quiet and private. And the electric blankets on each bed were the best!

As lodge manager of a 4-star lodge, I would like to bring the following to your attention. Rooms lovely, nice and clean. Bedding very nice and clean. I will pay attention to the outside around the rooms. There was e.g. an ashtray with stubs in it that stood on the wall outside. Dining room did not get a feeling of fresh clean. Too much, too much good. I will throw on pure white tablecloths and get rid of all that excess stuff. Would I sleep there again? Definitely. Thank you.

Like the week before, we were once again warmly received by Mynhardt. The room was particularly neat and the antique furniture created a welcome feeling. The air conditioning was definitely a bonus. The bathroom was equipped with clean, fresh towels and the water was deliciously hot. The garden is beautiful and the sofa and table on the veranda was nice and relaxing. Our car was safely parked behind a locked gate. We will definitely recommend this facility to our friends and family.

Beds are very hard and uncomfortable. Aircon was broken with both stays. We were moved to a different unit during the second stay due to the broken aircon.

The photos are misleading, the place does not look like it does on the website. The driver was not on duty and the other guests did not know how to load to get to the gate, the guests took the gate off the car for an hour and made such noise and woke up the whole guest house in the morning 5 hours. The place looks like it's falling apart. The towels are not up to standard, and you get creamora instead of milk! Would not recommend the guest house.

Upon arrival in the room, there was a wet yellow urine stain on the bed all the way to the mattress. Als smelled like cat pee. Then we were moved to the room next door. The fridge was full of bowls of old food from the previous guests. The TV doesn't work. Towels in terrible condition! I have never stayed in such a filthy place in my entire life. Much better guest houses in Colesberg.

Neat and service was the best.
We received a friendly welcome call from Mynhard at the expected normal time to hear when our expected time of arrival was. Although not planned as such, we had just left Pretoria at the time with a possible arrival time after 21:00. Long story short, when we walked by a fast food restaurant just after half past ten, Mynhard quickly and effectively gave us the necessary information to get something to eat that we could calmly use later in the room. It was also load shedding and he waited for us in the dark, received us kindly and escorted us to our room. Slightly tame travelers couldn't ask for much more at that time of the evening, on our 54th wedding anniversary. Thank you Mynhard.

We have been to Herb Garden quite a few times and it is always a pleasure to stay there. Rooms are neat and clean and big enough. Mynhardt is very friendly and even helped with freezing facilities for our meat. Secure parking inside right by our unit.
We only stayed on our way back from holiday, but the room was well appointed with enough blankets against the cold, and everything we needed. Unfortunately, the generator was right in front of our window, and we wanted to hit the road early the next morning. At least payload was only up to 10 hours, otherwise it was definitely a bigger problem.

The room smelled of smoke when we walked in as there is a No Smoking sign in the room. Towels have been laundered and can be replaced. I also don't think it's too much to ask that there should be good coffee available, Ricoffy is certainly not the best. There is also no biscuit for your morning coffee, when it is available almost everywhere else.
For a stopover before final destination it was great. Would definitely recommend and book there again. The room has just enough for what you need. The people there are very friendly and helpful.

Room small but sufficient for two people. Everything needed in room provided. Nice bed. Beautiful wooden interiors. Garden well kept but security gate open during the day - however it is assumed that Colesberg does not have a serious crime problem. Would be good if guests could get a remote control for the gate though. One has to get out of the car to key in the code on the gate panel with entry as well as exit. Might be a problem on rainy days.

Colesberg is an ideal stop over on the way from the Cape to Gauteng or KZN. Herb Garden is perfectly situated, and provides all the conveniences and comforts necessary to refresh the weary traveller, and does this with some style.
Room space is relatively small if three people. No storage space for suitcases or hanging space for a jacket or whatever. Terrain outside is neglected.

Always friendly staff who go out of their way. The accommodation is very clean and tidy. Best of all, pets are welcome.
The room with shower was relatively clean and bed comfortable, although the decor was dreary and towels need replacing. The potent noisy extractor fan in the bathroom made the bathroom very cold on the cold morning with no option to turn it off as it was coupled with the light switch. The worst however was when I was woken up by somebody knocking on my door, and all the doors in the passage in the middle of the night, at 02:10 "looking for somebody". This was an unwelcome disturbance and the manager should know who and where his guests are. I could not sleep again after this. Disastrous when travelling the long distances alone. So angry. Wasted my money trying to rest at this place. Refund? The coffee/chicory in the room was awful, as usual everywhere, despite so many better options available to guesthouses. 3 stars? Everything on the tray looked grubby and uninviting. I did not eat breakfast as I left early due to the disturbed night. The quilt shop cum hair salon cum reception area is certainly a diverse business model! Don't know when this place was last verified by you.

We stayed overnight 2 times in one week. Both times were very pleasant. Second night (room 13) the bed was a bit hard in my opinion and the wooden floors creak incredibly.

We booked the family room with a luxury bath and shower. Room was clean and neat and had comfortable bedding. The room is inside the house and not outside or detached. Unfortunately the bath's sprayer hose did not work and the shower needs a decent shower head. The room had an air-con and DStv with select channels but we could watch some movies which was nice. There was a municipal power failure, but the staff quickly started the generator which was great.
Would definitely not book this guest house again.

As always, a friendly welcome and they immediately made us feel at home. Rooms are spacious with everything needed for an overnight stay or a day or 2 in the Karoo. Fences are set up so that the dogs can move around freely without disturbing other guests. Very safe and quiet area, close to the main road, but far enough away not to hear the noise of the trucks driving through the town. The pool was also lovely for the kids and is nice and clean.
Rooms and bathroom are very neat. We were able to cool off in the clean pool, and dining is not too far. It was just terribly hot in the one room that didn't have air conditioning.

Herb Garden Guest House met all my expectations and the young man who ran the guest house went out of his way to buy me delicious farmer's biscuits, something I did not expect from him, but which he did to to make stay even more enjoyable. Great service and top accommodation.
Nicely restored interesting house. The host Mynhard was particularly accommodating and didn't care at all about 3 restless children who wanted to investigate. Perfect place to stay if you are driving to Cape Town or just want to visit the beautiful town.
Accommodation neat and clean. We booked the "deluxe family room with bath and shower". We were checked into a room with only a shower. Got the feeling they put someone else in the reserved room. There is a price difference between what we booked and paid vs. what we got.

Herb Garden has clean room with everything one needs for a day or two's stay. I was very grateful for the air conditioning which helps in a hot place like Colesberg. Rode a mountain bike trail near the accommodation. The route needs to be marked a little better.

We were received very kindly and the room was well prepared and the air conditioner already switched on to keep the room nice and cool. A lot of effort was made for our dog-child who was with us and he had a very large area to walk around and sniff. Beds were good and everything very clean and tidy. The area is quiet and very safe.
We spent only one night at the Herb Garden Guest House, Colesberg in November 2018. We had a lovely stay with our return from the Cape. With our arrival it started to rain, which was certainly a relief against the heat in the Karoo. The unit was spacious and enough space for three adults and two medium sized dogs. Although we have made provision for dinner, there is a delicious restaurant where food can be ordered for next to nothing. Next time we will order at JC's Restaurant in Kerkstraat. Lovely big room and kitchen. The bathroom is very large with a lovely bath and large shower. The television worked as well as air conditioning. Bonus is the free WiFi. Would definitely stay there again with our next tour to the Cape.
If you are ready to meet your own requirements as far as food and refreshments are concerned this is a good place to stay overnight. In Colesberg town there is opportunity to meet these needs.

What a lovely, clean guesthouse. They certainly thought of everything! I particularly like the fact that my three Yorkies were welcome there. The decor was very tasteful.
It is perfectly located. We were welcomed with 3 dogs and our 5 year old daughter en we had a good rest. It was great that we could leave at 05:00 in the morning without having to wait for someone to let us out. I would sleep here again.
The place was neat enough to stay overnight. Geyser is a bit hot, the water burned me in the shower when I accidentally closed to cold water tap with my arm.

We were warmly welcomed at the guest house. They are very friendly and helpful. The town has a very nice church.
For R740 per night one expects breakfast included. Room is tidy apart from bed lamp that doesn't work, bathtub and sink plugs leak water. No soap for dishes. The most unpleasant thing was that we were woken up at 4 o'clock in the morning by workers who wanted to get a lorry out of the yard next to our bedroom window.

Very disappointed. When we got there we were asked if we paid. We did not get the room we booked and when we complained they told us it is being renovated. Why was this not communicated prior to making the booking or when we arrived. The room and bedding was dirty. A curtain separated the beds and the bathroom area. The toilet was not functioning properly and the shower hose was broken. We were told that it is being renovated. Why was this not communicated prior to booking or when we got there.

We had a beautiful unit. Everything was clean and tidy. We were tired after our ride and didn't use the facilities, but there were braai facilities and a nice pool to cool off in. Definitely worth staying the night here after a long drive.

Accommodation and breakfast are reasonable, room just too cramped for 5 adults.
Herb Garden needs some finishes. We were a bit disappointed with the room (nr 9) after a long day on the road. Although we had a semi-private entrance and courtyard for our 2 doggies, the dogs were able to squeeze through the gate so they kept running away. Also no grass for the children and dogs. The car gate kept toing of the railing and wasn't electronic. Kitchen and dining hall is nog up to standard and the towels should be replaced. I won't recommend it to my friends, and sory to say but I won't take my family there again.
The Herb Garden Guest House is neat, clean, modern and comfortable. We usually struggle to find a cute little place that is pet friendly - I would definitely recommend this place. Our dog had a lovely, safe area with plenty of grass to run around. Our room was beautiful and tidy with a modern bathroom (shower and bath). The "aircon" in the room cooled our room wonderfully and we were well rested to drive on the next day. Thank you for good service, we will definitely see you again soon!
Air conditioner not working. Shell paint off everywhere. Unit smells musty. Shower floor is a risk even if a shower mat is provided. Keep floorboard loose. Will cause guests major damage.

The rooms on the website are different from the ones we stayed in! I also specifically asked for a room with no stairs and no stairs to shower. The bathrooms on the site have modern walk-in showers with glass doors and we found an old dirty bathroom with a curtain in front of the shower with stairs. The beds had old dirty blankets on them.
We stayed two nights and really enjoyed it. Of course I really enjoyed the quilt shop at reception as I am a quilter. It almost feels like an art gallery with all the beautiful artwork everywhere. We were warmly received and everyone was very friendly.

Many guests arrived around the same time as us. We had to wait in the street while the other guests were shown to their rooms. However, the next morning, the gate was open for everyone. The hostess was somewhat overwhelmed with everyone showing up at the same time. Our room was comfortable and well furnished with the linen, pillows and mattresses in good condition. The linen in the second room on the veranda smelled of smoke, but apart from that it was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again.

Friendly and warm welcome. A comfortable room with air conditioning, a bath and hand shower. A proper shower place would be an asset - there is more than enough space in the bathroom. It's conveniently located near the local SPAR, which stocks a good selection of groceries and other goods. It's also close to the highway although the route description can be confusing.

A wall was repainted the day we stayed there and the smell of paint was not very pleasant. Except for that, the rooms were pretty and well equipped.
